Sex Therapy Can Help with a Variety of Issues
The idea of “Sex Therapy” can feel embarrassing, specific, obtuse and mysterious all at the same time. I understand that reaching out for help when you are experiencing personal or partnership issues around sex and intimacy can be hard and associated with a myriad of emotions ranging from shame, distrust, excitement and hopelessness. I want to assure you that I am committed to providing you, or you and your partner(s), a safe, nonjudgmental, sex positive space in which to explore your concerns. Some of the issues I can help you unpack are:
- Affairs / Infidelity
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Unequal Libidos Between Partners
- Orgasm Difficulties
- Recovering Sexual Assault and/or Trauma
- Shame / Embarrassment
Healthy Sexuality Allows Connection on a Deeper Level
Feeling good about your sexuality, sexual expression, sexual identity and gender identity leaves you balanced and feeling connected to yourself. Healthy sexuality allows connection with others on a deeper level. If you are feeling disconnection from your sexuality within yourself, you may experience distress and anxiety. I am here to help. Together, we will explore and evaluate physical, emotional and psychological blocks that might be impacting you sexually.
Steps to improving your sexuality may include:
- Taking a sex and health history
- Understanding and processing past traumas
- Bringing awareness to internal narratives and how they affect you
- Looking at negative patterns of interaction that occur in your relationships
Based on your history, we will create an action plan that might include individual or relational homework. This can be an intense process but clients have told me that they feel more authentically connected to themselves and closer to their partners when we are done.
We Will Find Solutions that Stay True to Your Core Values
Our work together will center around your sexual concerns and how they affect you, your partner(s) and others in your life. My therapeutic approach is integrated and holistic and my style is gentle, direct and collaborative.
There is no nudity or touching in a therapy session. Any exercises or assignments are given to clients to complete in the privacy of their own homes.
Change and growth are possible even when it seems like all is lost.
Through our work together you will see more hopefulness, connection and acceptance of who you truly are.
