    Susan Terkhorn NCC, LMFT, CST

Hi and welcome to Counseling Services of Denver, private practice of Susan Terkhorn. I am a sex and relationship therapist who helps individuals, couples and families find connection, healing and personal growth within themselves and with those that are closest to them.

My passion is helping my clients overcome the obstacles in their lives that often leave them feeling stuck, helpless and disconnected. I have experience working with couples, families and individuals experiencing communication issues, sexual issues, depression, past trauma infidelity, sexual dysfunction and sexual and gender identity concerns.

In addition to my training as a therapist I often draw on my life experiences to guide my work.

    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
    • AASECT Certified Sex Therapist
    • Nationally Certified Counselor
    • Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Sexology – Modern Sex Therapy Institute
    • MA University of Northern Colorado in Clinical Mental Health Counseling – Couples and Family Track
    • Denver Family Institute – Two year academic and clinical certification in systemic and relational therapy
    • Level 1 Gottman Certified Couples Therapist
    • Extensive Training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

    My Approach to Counseling

My therapeutic style is direct, creative and compassionate and I strive to provide an inclusive, affirmative and safe environment. I enjoy working with people from all gender identities, sexual orientation, expressions, religions, ethnicities and lifestyles.

Working at your pace, we will explore past and present experiences that define you as a person and gather information about your strengths, resiliency, and challenges. I love supporting my clients as they create personally meaningful and fulfilling lives through increased self-awareness, acceptance, connection, and valued action. By connecting with you in a meaningful way I can help you, as an individual, couple or family to break free from old harmful and disconnecting patterns and identify, follow through and accomplish YOUR life goals!

    A Bit More About Me…

When I’m not at my office I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and dogs. I am passionate about growing as a person and find connection to myself through meditation, yoga, travel and being in nature.

Creativity is also an important outlet in my life and is expressed through gardening, painting, drawing or stone carving. It is my goal to show up authentically every day not only for myself but for those who allowed me to be part of their healing journey.
